Life begins…..when?

No this is not a post about conception, abortion or choice. Well maybe about choice.

As I grow older, I am confronted with signs of my aging. Loss of flexibility-both mentally and physically, loss of strength, and of course hair all confirm to me that I am growing older. But I get to choose how these things effect me. Take hair for an example. I used to have a full thick head of hair. Not really a striking color but full. Now it is all but gone from front to back. I look like I have a monks cut sometimes. Since I never felt my identity as centered on my hair, my attitude with it’s lose is so what?

Some of the other areas plage me a bit more. I have always been able to lift just about anything I wanted too. I learned the proper way to lift from my dad (who had a bad back but was very strong) and could use technigue to aid in lifting larger, heavier items. Now I find my overall strength much less. After my one year re-coop time from my distal bicep rupture my upper body strength feels like it has gone the way of my hair.

But I am not ready to throw in the towel on life yet. I am ready to live life to the fullest! So I choose to say that life begins at 50! Sue and I have a great future, growing up together. After all it has only been 32 years so far. Hey I am going to be a grampa soon. And that brings a whole new stage to life!

  1. Yes, but have you started to get cold yet?

  2. Congrats, Grandpa! Which of your families is blessing you? It’s good to hear you are doing so well — only hair loss and strength — never fortitude, dedication, character, nobility nor humor — you’ll always be my hero!
