Have you ever asked God to “Search me, O God, and know my heart?” (Psalm 139:23a) It is a scary request to know that you have laid bare your whole life to God. But in reality He can see it any way. He already knows what you do in the dark. But by asking Him to look, you are asking for His revelation into your life.
One of our students at college said there are songs sung during chapel that he won’t sing. He thinks about the words and in an honest view does not feel he is ready to mean what he is being asked to sing. He feels the words have impact as we sing and if you don’t mean it, don’t sing it.
The same could be said about this verse from Psalms. If you are not ready for God to challenge you on stuff, then don’t ask Him to look into your heart. You may be surprised by what He finds.
The last exams are today. The pressure is mounting.
